The heart of the 6400 Series is the step driver ASIC
(Application Specific Integrated Circuit) developed by Pacific Scientific.
The exceptional features of the series originate with this integrated circuit.
A 22-pin header interface allows the ASIC to communicate with our option
cards. Our engineers can also use this interface to provide OEMs with custom
solutions.
Key performance features of the series include:
- Patented four phase bipolar chopper circuit electronically
controls the motor winding currents at 20 kHz, reducing heat, audible and
electrical noise
- Microstepping assures smooth low speed operation
and optimum system resolution
- Digital Electronic Damping(TM) circuit eliminates the
problem of mid-range instability and delivers full torque
across the entire speed range
- Idle Current Reduction reduces motor current
during inactive periods so stepper system runs cooler, extending motor and
drive life
- Output current is DIP switch selectable in .625A increments
from .625 to 5A rms continuous (7.1A peak)
